I'm going to be honest with you, I deactivated my Facebook because I was being a creep. I was looking through ex friends, current "friends", and ex-bfs thinking one of two things. Either, 'woah, I'm doing a lot better than this person' or 'this person is doing awesome and it's making me feel crappy about myself'. In the very short 80 days that I haven't had Facebook I've realized a few things.
First of all, I've really come to love that my path is different than everyone elses' and I've come to realize I can't compare my life path to theirs. I have to remind myself that I am living for God and living up to my own expectations. Now with saying that, I will say that I am still open to advice and guidance. But ultimately I live with my choices and decisions. But so are all those people on Facebook. They are living the way that is best for them (in their eyes) and who am I to tell them that's wrong...
And on that note, holy cow can I be judgmental. Recently I was talking with Mr. Scottie B. about a friend and he pointed out that I had said nothing but negative things to say about this person. And I was like, shit he's right. And it got me thinking about a lot of things, including why I disliked Facebook. A lot of my friends on Facebook were posting negative or depressing things and instead of being a concerned friend and asking how I can help or support them...I was hiding their posts and thinking "Their life isn't that bad, man up." (yes I really did think man up). And friends would post about their babies and I'd feel like 'I don't really care'. Man, what a terrible attitude to have. These are people I've known for years. People who helped me through hard times or maybe friends from HS who at least helped me through a few homework assignments. These are people who I share such awesome memories with and we've gone seperate ways but....
This is what Facebook is all about. It's about reconnecting with those old friends. It's about still caring about them and the lives they've created. It's about supporting each other and still having a place in your heart for these people.
When I first deleted my Facebook I remember saying "If any of them really care about what's going on in my life, they'll text or call". haha, what a b word I am. I still care about a lot of the people I had as friends on FB. And once in a while I will send them a text to say hi. But we're all busy and FB is an awesome place to catch up on each others lives it just takes less effort (which makes us all kind of lazy, meh. oh well).
This post is probably a hot mess of my thoughts but I think what I'm getting at is...
Maybe I'll get a facebook again. But hopefully this post will remind me to do the following.
*Be a positive light on Facebook. Lift friends up in times of need
*Remember that most of these people are true friends and do care about me
*If I don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all
*Babies are adorable and it's not their fault that their parents post things about them pooping (note: do not overshare, sometimes it's gross)
*Stop looking at certains peoples FBs. If you aren't their friend it's either because you don't know them in real life or they left your life for a good reason.
*If you look at a picture or see a post and have something nice to say, say it
So, don't judge me for caving and getting a FB again. And if you see me on twitter saying mean things about FB...remind me of this post!

FDF! Friday night we went to dinner at Quivey's Grove. The food was SO good and the interior is awesome. Their website even has the history of the buildings/restaurant and it's really neat (check it out).

Although Mr. Scottie B. had not planned to see me this weekend, I pretty much invited myself to see him (sometimes a girls gotta see her bf). So I drove to the base Friday night and we went to a hookah bar with some Navy buds. It was a interesting time (haha). The next day before we headed to Evanston, Mr. Scottie B. sang me a few songs. Then off to Evanston and it is the cutest little town. As soon we get off the train there is a Urban Outfitters, American Apparel, a movie theater, a yogurt place, and a World Market...sigh. So we walked through World Market and bought some wine and treats. Then headed to That Little Mexican Cafe for food, to the movies to see "Horrible Bosses", and a quick stop after for some yogurt. The food was good, the movie was SO funny, and the yogurt might have been the best idea I'd had all day.
After Mr. Scottie B. reminded me that I wouldn't be back in Chicago for at least three weeks I decided we had to head downtown. So a quick ride on CTA and we were at Oak Street Beach. We finished our wine and watched the moon rise (aw, I know). I drove home late (again). But it wasn't too bad, I was pretty awake.

This morning I went to church (great service). And my plan for the rest of the day is to just relax. I'm thinking a movie and a nap. Maybe some baking finally.
How is everyone else's weekend going?

Mr. Scottie B. carrying my overnight bag for me (hehe) and getting ready to sing :)

So he kind of looks like Jake Gyllenhaal

Fun and then a run
Last night I went out with Adriana and her friend Kelci. We went to the Nitty Gritty for cheap drinks! I hadn't seen Adriana in a while so it was nice to catch up. Then we went to The Vintage, which is probably my favorite bar in Madison. We laughed a lot and had a great time. Then a quick late night stop at Ians (Boise people, this stuff might be better than Pie Hole).

So a quick update on my work outs and such. I will be doing the fort to base run in September with Mr. SB (I'm unsure if there's a site, so no link for now). The run is around 11.5 miles (or something like that) and that's kind of a lot for me. I started really enjoying running over the past six months or so, but never had any real goal in mind. I was just running at the gym as part of my work out. But once Mr. Scottie B. asked me to do the run I was like "yeah sure!" and then I was like "oh shit, that's a long run". So here's some things I've learned/been doing over the past two weeks to start to get ready.
-Focus on time, not distance: I read a lot on beginner's running articles/blogs and one thing I read over and over is that beginners make the mistake of focusing on miles ran vs. endurance. Which is definitely something I was doing. I would speed up and slow down and just hope to make it X amount of miles. But this last week I've covered my distance so I can't see it and focused on keeping a good pace for longer periods of time.
It's helped so much. My pace has been good and I've been accomplishing the amount of miles I would normally shoot for.
-Breathing: I never paid much attention to my breathing when I ran. I'd just...run. So this past week I've focused on not tensing up my jaw and just breathing normally. I've read that the whole 'in through your nose and out through your mouth' isn't for everyone. It's natural to breath through and out of both your mouth and nose. So I've been finding what's most comfortable for me.
-Water: I hate drinking water while I run. It's a little awkward if I don't slow down (I don't want to have to do that) and sometimes it resulted in me cramping up. But this week I've been setting marks for myself, taking at least one drinm of water every five (sometimes seven) minutes. It's been great too, I'm proud of myself)
That's pretty much it for now. I have been pretty sore, mostly my calves. Which is odd because I've never had my calves tense up or tighten before. So what I did do today is 'roll out' my calves. For those of you who have used foam rollers before, I'd love to hear your feedback, best workouts, or best stretches with them. For those who see them at the gym and feel confused (included a photo below if you don't know what I'm talking about), don't! Do a little research and try something new. Foam rollers are amazing. It's the first time I'd ever rolled out my calves and it was AMAZING. It helped so much.

Last random of the night is a few Boise blogs to follow or at least check out! First is my dear Boise friend April's newest blog Life As We Know It.... Her and her adorable bf recently found out their expecting. They are a rockin' couple and she's a great lady. And second is Brandy. Brandy was a fellow cheerleader in HS who was a few years older and wiser than me. She's taken her life adventure to LA temporarily and it's been inspiring to follow her story via twitter/blog. Check out her blog here and her twitter here!

Faves
Here are a few of my favorites things right now!
*** I'm loving that
*** I'm loving that
Danielle of Sometimes Sweet is having a Shoe Week Giveaway this week. Everyday she is having a giveaway for a different pair of shoes from Big Buddha. In general, I love Danielle's blog. She's the cutest mom and has the greatest weekly features (including tattoo Tuesdays). She makes me want to be a mom, I know I know...that's crazy talk. Anyway, this is today's shoe. They're adorable, right?
*** So if you've never been to cracked.com, you're missing out. It's one of my all time favorite websites. I mostly explore their articles, a few examples are 7 basic things you won't believe you're all doing wrong and 5 important people who were screwed out of history books. Check it out!
*** As most blogging and twitter ladies I just can't get enough of hellogiggles. Every article and video is so great. Most of the ladies who write for the website I absolutely adore. This is where I discovered Marissa A. Ross and her wine times videos.

*** My brother and sister-in-law went and had portraits done of my nephews. And I'm IN LOVE with this photo of Jaxson (ignore the watermark). I mean look at that curly hair and those blue eyes!!!
*** Another blog that I found recently is Work Your Closet. She's this wonderful young lady who inspires me to change up my look and showing me that I can recreate looks I like with items I already have!
Well Mr. Scottie B. isn't feeling well and I'm thinking that means I need to make him some treats to mail. So I'm going to explore some recipes on my fave blogs and see what I find. I also got in four miles at the gym tonight and it felt great! But now I am craving some ice cream and I do have some waffle cones. hmm, I may cave and have some tonight. shhh :)
What are some of your favorite things right now?

Family
On Saturday we had another family bbq, although I ducked out early to head to see Mr. Scottie B. The photo below is everyone who was there (yay for figuring out my self timer)! And the second and third photos are of my grandma with her great-grandsons and Lola.

And finally, today is my parents 24th wedding anniversary! They've definitely had their ups and downs, but they've put up with each other and stayed committed for a whole 24 years!

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!
(side note: little did I know Mr. Scottie B. did the cutest thing ever and sent my mom a happy anniversary text today. awww, right?)

So Far Behind
I know, I know. I'm so far behind on posts. So here goes. The first few photos document a picnic lunch with Mom, Dad, Ethan, Jaxson, and myself. It was a lovely afternoon and it was a over a week ago but if I remember correctly the weather was wonderful.

Fourth of July weekend was so perfect. I am a little sad that in the process of putting photos from my camera to computer I lost a ton of photos. I'm not quite sure how I did that, but nothin' I can do now. So my grandma got into town Friday the 3rd and spent nine days in Madison (more photos from her trip in the next post). Everyone was over for a Saturday morning Brunch on the 2nd. It was a lot of fun. It's always an awesome day when the weather is nice enough to be outside, especially because there is little ones running around during family gatherings.

After brunch that day I headed toward Chicago to see Mr. Scottie B. and friends. We went to Blarney Island that night. I spent the night drinking too much, white girl dancing, sitting on the dock with Mr. SB, and being ridiculous. On Sunday we headed to Summerfest! Mr. Scottie B. and I went to lunch at Club Charlies and headed back to Summerfest grounds to meet up with friends. Mr. SB and friends went to see Ben Harper. I went to see Taking Back Sunday with friends. We both enjoyed the shows, TBS puts on a great show and the stage we were at gave us the greatest view of the fireworks. For the Fourth of July we slept in and then got up and went to the Lakefront on base. The boys played volleyball, we drank booze, and I did my best to get rid of my shorts tan. We headed to get sushi after and then ended the evening watching fireworks on base.
